Actions Biotin is required for keratinisation and growth of strong, hard hooves. Indications Biotin supplement for horses with soft, crumbling, cracked or eroded hooves. Dosage and Administration It is essential to feed Biocare daily for three to five months at the correct level to obtain an improvement in hoof horn strength. After four to eight weeks of Biocare supplementation it is expected that a growth band of new 'defect free' hoof wall should develop below the coronet (the upper border of the hoof wall at the hairline). Continue daily supplementation with Biocare until this new hoof wall has covered the entire hoof. In severe cases, daily supplementation may be required for nine to twelve months. Scoop provided contains biotin 7.5 mg. Foals. 150 kg bodyweight: Biocare 5 g daily. Donkeys and ponies. 300 kg bodyweight: Biocare 5 g daily. Riding horses. 450 kg bodyweight: Biocare 10 g daily.
